The key fixture of Serie A round 25 concluded with an intense storyline, as Napoli, playing at home, trailed twice but managed to salvage a point with a 2-2 draw versus AS Roma.

This draw extended Gli Azzurri’s unbeaten home streak in Serie A to 23 matches (16 wins, 7 draws), demonstrating the remarkable consistency of coach Antonio Conte’s team at their fortress, but it does little to aid their championship pursuit.

With determination to keep alive their hope of finishing in the top four of Serie A for the first time since the 2017/18 season, Roma started the match with great enthusiasm.

As early as the 7th minute, the visitors created a breakthrough. From a precise low cross by Bryan Zaragoza on the wing, Donyell Malen made a decisive one-touch finish, leaving goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic with no chance to save.

That was the Dutch striker’s fourth goal since joining the Giallorossi, delivering an early blow that stunned Napoli.

Shaken by the early setback, the home team immediately pushed forward seeking an equalizer. However, Stanislav Lobotka’s powerful long-range shot only tested goalkeeper Mile Svilar without troubling him too much.

The match then became lively with continuous exchanges of attacks. Malen remained a threat for Roma with another shot narrowly missing the post. On the other end, Rasmus Hojlund also alarmed the visitors’ defense with a close-range strike that was timely blocked.

Pressure increased towards the end of the first half, and Napoli’s efforts were finally rewarded in the 40th minute. From about 25 meters out, Leonardo Spinazzola unleashed a bold shot. The ball deflected off Niccolo Pisilli, looping over Svilar who was helpless, leveling the score at 1-1 for the hosts.
