Black market tickets for Vietnam vs. Malaysia unexpectedly cool down, with scalpers simultaneously slashing prices

Just one day before the ASEAN Cup 2026 semifinal second leg between Vietnam and Malaysia, ticket prices on the black market have unexpectedly cooled down. After previously being pushed to double the face value, many tickets are now being reduced as scalpers struggle to find buyers.

The ASEAN Cup 2026 semifinal second leg between Vietnam and Malaysia will take place at 8:00 PM on August 19 at My Dinh Stadium. Following a 2-0 victory away from home in the first leg, Coach Kim Sang Sik's team holds a significant advantage in the race to reach the final.

Earlier, the intensity of the match had caused the black market ticket market to heat up rapidly. Before the first leg in Malaysia on August 16, many tickets for the second leg at My Dinh were pushed to double the face value by scalpers. Tickets with a face value of 1 million VND were being offered at 2 million VND per ticket, while 700,000 VND tickets were raised to 1.4 million VND. Tickets priced at 500,000 VND and 300,000 VND were also sold at significantly higher prices than their original cost.

However, the latest developments are completely opposite.

Except for VIP and invitation tickets, which still command high prices, the four types of regular tickets are showing a downward trend.

Tickets with a face value of 1 million VND are currently being sold on the unofficial market for about 1.5-1.7 million VND. The 700,000 VND tickets now go for around 1.3 million VND each. Meanwhile, tickets with face values of 500,000 VND and 300,000 VND are only about 200,000-300,000 VND above the organizers' listed prices.

While regular tickets are starting to drop, VIP and invitation tickets remain at high prices.

In the A stand, second tier, tickets with a face value of 700,000 VND are being offered at around 1-1.1 million VND each. Notably, a pair of tickets in gates 1-2 were once listed at up to 5.5 million VND per pair, while the original price was only 2 million VND per pair.

On social media ticket sales groups, ticket prices are also divided by area. VIP tickets in the A stand, second tier, gates 1-2 are listed at around 3.5-4 million VND per pair. VIP invitation tickets for gates 3-4 cost about 3.5 million VND per ticket, gates 5-6 about 2 million VND per ticket, while gates 7-10 are listed at around 1.5 million VND per ticket. A stand, fifth tier tickets range from 1.2-1.6 million VND each. B stand, second tier tickets are commonly priced at 1.5-2.5 million VND each, depending on location, while B stand, fifth tier tickets are around 1.2-1.6 million VND each.

The price reduction indicates that scalpers are under significant pressure as the match approaches, but buyers are no longer willing to pay excessively high prices.

The appeal of the Vietnamese team is clearly undiminished. However, the 2-0 victory in the first leg has unexpectedly shifted the ticket market. After establishing a huge advantage away from home, Vietnam's chances of reaching the final became clear. This has reduced the demand for high-priced tickets among some fans. Many buyers are no longer keen on spending double or even triple the original price to get a ticket.

Meanwhile, scalpers who had already collected or purchased tickets earlier are now facing pressure to sell quickly as the match is only one day away. If they continue to hold prices too high, they risk not selling the tickets before kickoff. This is seen as the main reason why regular ticket prices have started to fall instead of continuing to rise as initially expected.
