Lifting the Super Cup, Arsenal captain proudly declares war on all of Europe

After a resounding 3-0 victory over Manchester City in the 2026 Community Shield, captain Martin Odegaard sent an ambitious message, asserting that Arsenal does not intend to stop at winning the Premier League.

Arsenal kicked off the new season in the most impressive way possible by defeating Manchester City 3-0 in the Community Shield. Riccardo Calafiori, Kai Havertz, and Martin Odegaard each scored, helping Mikel Arteta's team secure the first trophy of the season.

After the match, Odegaard did not hide his confidence in Arsenal's ambitions.

"We showed our level today, showed that we are ready,"the Arsenal captain shared with TNT Sports.

That message was all the more significant because Arsenal entered the Community Shield with plenty of question marks after less-than-convincing performances during the preseason. However, the Gunners quickly silenced all doubts with a dominant display against Manchester City. Calafiori opened the scoring after just 23 seconds, before Havertz and Odegaard added goals to seal a 3-0 victory.

For Odegaard, the Community Shield is just the beginning. Having conquered the Premier League last season, Arsenal wants to continue pursuing every trophy rather than being satisfied with their current success. After the historic season, the Norwegian captain believes that the hunger for titles in the dressing room has not diminished but has actually grown even stronger.

"It's a great achievement and experience for all of us. Once you know how wonderful that feeling is, you want to have it again. At this club, you want to win everything"

The Arsenal captain's statement shows that the Gunners are entering the new season with much greater ambition. The Premier League is no longer the only goal, as the Champions League and other cup competitions are all within the sights of Mikel Arteta's squad.

To realize that ambition, Martin Odegaard's role will be especially crucial. Last season, knee, muscle, and shoulder issues limited the Norwegian midfielder to just 16 Premier League starts, preventing him from maintaining his usual influence.

Right before the Community Shield, Arteta also emphasized that he is seeing a very different Odegaard after the break.

"If this season we can keep Martin healthy, always ready, and have the right players around him, we will see a very different Martin. From the first day he returned, I sensed something different in him. He wants to prove and show more, because the team needs that too."
