Fernandez also denied publicly pushing for a departure from Chelsea. "I have never publicly pushed for a move. I returned after the World Cup, trained, and was ready to play. Coming off the bench today is the only answer I know how to give," he said.

Fernandez's future became complicated since March when he publicly admitted his dream of playing for Real Madrid.
