Luke Shaw is expected to take a pay cut to renew his contract with Manchester United, similar to Harry Maguire! A £6 million youngster is therefore destined to be sold.

Last season, the long-time "glass man" Luke Shaw overcame his injury problems, starting all 38 Premier League games for Manchester United. But his contract expires next year with no priority renewal clause, so if he wants a new contract at United, he will almost certainly need to accept a pay cut.

According to British media, Luke Shaw is expected to get a contract extension similar to Harry Maguire's. After Maguire's renewal in April, his base salary was reduced. However, Manchester United qualified for the Champions League, and it is believed that bonuses made up for Maguire's salary gap. Luke Shaw's wages are also the same as Maguire's, both at £190,000 per week.

Relevant information shows that Maguire's current salary has dropped to £170,000 per week, but bonuses exceed £40,000. If he can achieve the maximum variable income, his weekly pay could exceed £200,000, higher than his original salary. British media predict that his England teammate Luke Shaw will also accept similar terms.

The 31-year-old Luke Shaw has been at the club for 12 years, and last season he started all league matches for the first time. However, in his 12 seasons at Manchester United, the left-back has only had more than 40 appearances in three seasons, and the club currently lacks a professional senior player in the left-back position.

Manchester United manager Carrick mainly positions Patrick Dorgu as a winger, while Paraguayan youngster Diego Leon has not been called up to the first team and is still adapting to English football in the U21 squad. This summer, the Red Devils plan to bring in a new left-back, but no candidate has been confirmed yet. Newcastle United refused to sell Lewis Hall, while Arsenal's £60 million asking price for Myles Lewis-Skelly exceeds United's budget.

However, because of this plan, Manchester United are ready to sell 19-year-old Harry Amass. United correspondent Andy Mitten pointed out that although Amass performed well in pre-season and gained favor from some Red Devils fans, he has no future at the club.

Mitten bluntly stated that he sees no future for Amass at Manchester United, because he is considered not good enough and not ready to play for a top club. If he stays, he can only be a long-term substitute. Carl Anka of The Athletic also believes that United should sell or loan out Amass with a buyback clause.

It is worth noting that Amass's contract expires next summer, meaning he is entering the final year of his deal. Manchester United have a 12-month extension option, giving the club some room for maneuver. Amass's team has again received interest from Championship clubs, such as West Ham United, who might consider signing him if they lose Haji Malick Diouf, but United may no longer be willing to loan him out.

Because Amass is not in Carrick's plans, if he is loaned out, when he returns next summer, his contract will only have one year left (including the extension option). In this case, Manchester United's transfer fee for selling Amass next summer will be lower. Currently, Amass is valued at €7 million on Transfermarkt, and United want to sell him for £6 million, which can be said to be a reasonable price, fair and square.

Unless Amass signs a new contract, the likelihood of him being loaned out will increase. The two sides are in dialogue about the next steps. What is certain is that Amass already experienced being a starter in the Championship last season, and young players who gain such experience do not want to become marginal figures.
