Vietnamese women's football has achieved a historic breakthrough.

The inaugural B/AFC/VFF women's football coaching certificate course exclusively for female coaches commenced.

On the morning of August 6, at the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) headquarters, the opening ceremony for Phase 1 of the B/AFC/VFF women's football coaching certificate course was held. The course will take place from August 6 to August 17, 2026.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Phu, General Secretary of the VFF, and Mrs. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Deputy General Secretary of the VFF, Mr. Koshida Takeshi, VFF Technical Director and course instructor, Coach Le Huynh Duc, also a course instructor, Mr. Okiyama Masahiko, VFF women's football expert, along with representatives from various departments and 22 trainees.

The B/AFC/VFF women's football coaching certificate course begins.

Remarkably, this is the first B/AFC/VFF certificate course in Vietnam reserved solely for female coaches. The 22 trainees are all former national team players or currently working at clubs and women's football training centers across the country. They are anticipated to become the backbone, helping to boost the growth of Vietnamese women's football in the coming years.

In his opening speech, VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu stressed that the course offers a chance for coaches from clubs and women's football training centers across the country to gather, interact, share experiences, and enhance their expertise in a spirit of openness. He also expressed gratitude to the trainees for joining and noted that the VFF has been diligently preparing and collaborating with FIFA, AFC, and other partners to roll out the program.

This marks the first B/AFC/VFF certificate course in Vietnam that is specifically tailored for female coaches.

According to General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu, women's football has always been a priority area for the VFF in terms of investment and development. Building on past achievements, the next objective is to further enhance professional standards to achieve success at the continental and global levels. This course is seen as a crucial step in the strategy to develop coaching talent, particularly at the youth level. The VFF also intends to continue offering A-level courses for female coaches to support their professional advancement.

During the opening ceremony, VFF Technical Director Koshida Takeshi expressed his happiness that the course was supported by FIFA and drew a large number of participants, even though the 2026 National U16 Women's Football Championship is ongoing. He stressed that enhancing the quality of coaches is crucially important for youth development, helping to establish a solid foundation for the sustainable growth of Vietnamese women's football.
