On April 4th evening, at Lach Tray Stadium, Hai Phong pulled off a surprise by beating Hanoi FC 1-0 in round 17 of the LPBank V-League 2025/26.

The sole goal by Huu Nam helped the Port City team secure all three points, on a day when their disciplined defense locked down and neutralized the attacking threat of Hoàng Hên from the visiting side.

Right after the opening whistle, Hanoi FC proactively pushed their formation high, controlled the game flow, and quickly created notable opportunities. However, Hai Phong's focused defense, led by Nhat Minh, successfully neutralized many dangerous attacking moves.

On the other side, the home team opted for a defensive counter-attacking style. The finishing attempts by Joel Tagueu or Lupeta somewhat shook Van Chuan's goal, but still lacked the necessary precision. In the 30th minute, Hai Phong had a controversial situation when Lupeta fell in the penalty area, but the referee denied the home team a penalty.

The first half concluded without any goals scored, despite the two teams creating an exciting back-and-forth contest.

Entering the second half, the game situation didn't change much as Hanoi FC continued to control possession, while Hai Phong patiently waited for counter-attacking chances. The Capital City team faced many difficulties approaching Dinh Trieu's goal, especially with Hoàng Hên being contained and unable to fulfill his creative role.

The turning point of the match came in the 80th minute. From a cross from the left flank by Huu Son, Huu Nam rushed in for a one-touch finish, sending the ball into a tricky angle near the post, leaving goalkeeper Van Chuan completely helpless and opening the scoring for Hai Phong.

In the final minutes of the match, Hanoi FC poured all their strength into attacking to seek an equalizer. However, the excellence of goalkeeper Dinh Trieu and the solid defense of the home team successfully preserved their narrow advantage.

Ultimately, Hai Phong secured a gritty 1-0 victory over Hanoi FC, thereby ending their disappointing streak.

In the simultaneous match, PVF-CAND drew 1-1 against Becamex Ho Chi Minh City.
